Gussasphalt – A mineral and asphalt compound containing a significant amount of filler, with a closed structure. It lays very tightly and it does not need to be condensed during the construction.

USE

Gussasphalt’s attributes allow for construction of long-lasting, safe, tight asphalt layers, for use in:

  • Protective layers, to protect and fill sealing coats in:
    • Bridge constructions,
    • Underground passages,
    • Underground and surface garages,
    • Yards with basements,
    • Channel constructions,
  • Surfaces on:
    • Bridge constructions,
    • Streets, pavements and bicycle lanes,
    • Tram lines,
    • Car parks and squares,
    • Platforms, road exits and driveways.

Thanks to its advantages, Gussasphalt is particularly popular in bridge constructions, as a layer that protects insulating materials, and as an abradable coating.

TECHNOLOGY

Modern Gussasphalt is produced in factories in an automated process of bituminous mass formation. The composition remains unchanged and guarantees the high quality of the mineral and bituminous compound. To transport Gussasphalt, special boilers are needed. These are equipped with a system of automatic heaters and agitators, which keeps the Gussasphalt at the optimal temperature, as well as maintaining the adequate structure and consistency of the compound. The mixture should be spread on a well-prepared base, of a designed profile, which has had its surface dried and thoroughly cleaned of all sorts of dirt. The temperature of Gussasphalt at the moment of spreading should be in the 200oC – 220oC range, depending on the type of asphalt binder used. Gussasphalt compound should be laid mechanically, using a paver, or if there is no access for such machines, manually. The compound should be spread continuously, without stoppages, at a constant pace. If Gussasphalt is used as an abradable coating, its surface needs to be made rough whilst still hot, using basaltic milled rock tiles surrounded by asphalt, by regular sprinkling this mixture using an aggregate distributor.
